Facing mortality

I am grief-stricken since my mother died a few weeks ago.  Emotions run high, transient thoughts of happiness are starting to filter in!  From the beginning of June until September, I have been working on one piece and need to rethink the background a bit.  Getting back in the studio was difficult but truly helpful, centering my day, strengthening my creative energies.  Here are three images of the still not completed piece.
